Poetry-Prose-Performance-Multimedia-Theatre?

London, Summer 2006

Group 5 are six young writers/critics living and working in Serbia. They share a common fresh approach to literature through a process of separating text from its primary printed form and through use of the suggestive possibilities of voice, sound and image in presenting literary works. They aim at transcending the boundaries of language through performing live readings of translated texts – Serbian to English, English to Serbian.

Opala Group and Group 5 are organising a literary exchange project between Serbia and the UK to take place in Belgrade and London in Spring and Summer 2006.

This is a collaboration with an exciting group of young authors from London.

The result of these encounters will be published in a bilingual book, printed in a number of publications in Serbia, on CD and web, and performed live for an audience.

Opala Group will work particularly on the performance-theatre aspects of the collaboration between Serbian and UK authors. Many of the authors are performers in their own right, some are experimenting with actors, music, multimedia, some are writers of plays and short stories. The outcome will be an exciting evening of theatre, literature, performance and unknown.
