The
First Yugoslav Short & Documentary Film Festival took place
in London in June 2002 in the St Sava Library in Portobello. We presented
short, documentary and animated films by authors from Yugoslavia and
abroad that are in Serbian, or about the ex-Yugoslavia, the life of
it's people and those who had left.
The festival had received over 100 film entries by
professionals, students and amateurs, of which we screened a selection
of 56 films. The Jury, made out of distinguished Yugoslav actors,
theatre and film practitioners, awarded 5 films with Prizes for
Best Yugoslav Short Films at the Festival. One
of the awarded authors has gone on to great success at this year's
Berlin Film Festival.
A selection of films were later
re-screened in a cycle dedicated to new Yugoslav Films at the 10th
Raindance Film Festival in August 2002 in the Other Cinema, London.
